Subwoofer Box

The scientists from "The Low Budget Environment" are here to teach once again. Here are some measurements to probably help you make your own box. I used a jigsaw from the late 1970s, a Dremel, a Sharpie, and a screwdriver. First thing you should do is make some kind of templates out of cardboard. All measurements are in inches. The only metric measurements I know are 9mm Luger, 2 liter Dr. Pepper, and cocain gram. It would be a good idea to bust out a measuring tape and make sure your area is pretty much the same. I used only 1/2 inch MDF to make everything. It's strong despite what other people may use, and I don't think it flexes much, if at all.
This was not a hard box to make and I never had any experiance in building anything from wood. If "yur paw" doesn't yell at you "YER STEW-PIDDER THEN SHE-IT", then you too can build this kind of box with ease. Truthfully, if a special box was already made to fit and F-body trunk and have space underneath, I would not have built this one. It did not exsist, so I did. I sure as hell was not gonna pay for some custom shit for 500% of the cost of materials. This was not done with the help of any software or blueprints, just a vision. Special thanks to Stonewell Bellcom.

The 1st thing I did was measure the width in between the side panels. YES, the one where my spare tire still resides. That would be 37 1/2 inches. Where the gas tank starts to slope down into the "trunk" area (T-top space if you got em) to the hatch release is 16 /12 inches. This provides the most support. There is also a divider in the middle.

Making sure there is enough room for the speaker wire terminals is a must. An inch from each side was subtracted to make such room.

13 inches would be from the top of the trunk release to where the flat empty space on the driver's side is, opposite the spare tire. This is only if you are going to hide something below, like a bottle, amp, concealed weapons, etc etc. Vertically, you could make this panel bigger or smaller depending on if you want that exact cubic feet of box space. I did not, so, once again, I just built the damn thing without regard to any certain spaces within the box. The 2 extra braced panels were an afterthought. They conceal the empty space between the box and taillight section, while offering extra support.

There's plenty of room for something like an 12 inch Audiobahn AW 1200Q. This combination provides plenty of shakes and quakes.
